Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2025

Kyle is a web application that generates research documents using large language models. This policy describes what data Kyle collects, why, and how it is handled.

What we collect

Kyle does not require account creation or personal information to use. To enforce fair usage limits (two documents per day per user), Kyle derives an anonymous identifier from your browser's technical characteristics — canvas rendering output, audio context properties, and screen dimensions. This identifier is a one-way hash and cannot be used to identify you personally.

We also store a short-lived cookie that serves the same purpose. Neither the fingerprint nor the cookie contains your name, email address, IP address, or any personally identifiable information.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information. We do not track your browsing activity outside of Kyle. We do not sell data to third parties. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics pixels.

Research topics and documents

The topics you submit and the documents Kyle generates are passed to third-party AI model providers (Google Gemini, Moonshot Kimi) for processing. These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle API inputs.

Generated documents are stored in cloud storage so they remain accessible to you after generation — for example, to download as PDF or Word at any time. Documents are associated with your anonymous identifier, not with any personal account or identity.

Rate limiting data

Usage counts (how many documents have been generated today for a given anonymous identifier) are stored in Redis with a 24-hour expiry. This data is used only to enforce usage limits and is automatically deleted after expiry.

Cookies

Kyle sets one functional cookie used to track your anonymous usage count. This cookie does not contain personal data and expires after 30 days. No marketing or analytics cookies are used.
